CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL CENTER
Safe Harbor Ohio is a faith-based, long-term, residential, therapeutic community for girls, ages 14 through 18, who are survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
We operate under a least-restriction philosophy, designed for restorative care. Safe Harbor Ohio offers a wide variety of learning, growth and community opportunities for our residents. Our Circle of Care provides holistic, integrated services to restore the physical, mental, social, and spiritual brokenness of young girls who have experienced inhumane trauma.
A specialized Individualized Treatment Plan is developed for each girl; providing integrated services in the following areas:
Medical/Physical
Psychological
Educational
Social/Relational
Spiritual
Independent Living/Job Skills
Community Connections/Family/Relatives
The Circle of Care Program guides the recovery and restoration of each girl who comes to us for healing. This program addresses the physical and psychological well-being, academic development, and social reintegration for each girl. Upon arrival, she is assessed by our staff of professionals who then develop her unique Circle of Care plan.
Safe Harbor Ohio operates under the licensing umbrella of the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio. Our partnership will remain in place until we are ready to operate independently.
We are accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families, licensed by Ohio Dept. of Job and Family Services.

Placements
Most placements for Safe Harbor Ohio are made by referring counties. However, we do accept girls from anywhere in the United State. We also consider applications from private placements.
A Specialized Approach
Our Safe Harbor Ohio team employs a trauma-effective approach to engage residents in a calm and compassionate way, eliciting safety and focusing on relationships and connection. Staff members are certified in Safe Crisis Management and focus on preventive strategies, de-escalation skills, incentive plans and creative interventions to create the least restrictive environment for our clients.
Daily routines provide structure for clients with a balance of flexibility to encourage client engagement. Our program utilizes an innovative status system directly linked to residents’ individualized treatment plan goals. This system encourages goal setting and the ability to clearly view progress/outcomes while allowing the treatment team to provide a specialized approach to meet the individual needs of clients.
Campus Life
All cottages contain individual bedrooms that include a private bathroom for each client.
Our 30-acre campus includes a vast walking trail outlined with swings and benches. We also have a small hiking trail. Onsite we can set up portable bases to play baseball/softball.
With our Creative Arts building, we offer art, music, Pilates, a workout room along with a fully stocked boutique; providing brand new clothing items for our clients at no charge.
We will soon offer an outdoor sports court (that will offer basketball and pickle ball) along with a middle school-sized gymnasium.
